Today’s post focuses on a review of the movie, LEGION.
The title ‘LEGION’ is an eponymous movie that shows the moral decadence in our society today. It centers on the immoral activities youths engage in and the repercussion of their actions. The movie did not leave out solutions and a way out of the mess.
The movie was released and shown on YouTube. The movie no doubt explores the depths of creativity in the scenery, set designs, plot, twists, etc.
This review is on a whole new level! LEGION is a story of a young man with a good background, who ends up with a friend who feeds and lives on an illegitimate job. He joins his friend to dupe people of their hard-earned money.
The way many youths open their lives up for the enemy to penetrate and take over. They sell to the devil for pleasure that won’t end well. Mark 8:36, Matthew 16:26
The first scene brings us to the reality of what the two friends do for a living and a glimpse of their personalities. The story of these two young men is a metaphorical representation of what many youths in Nigeria engage in.
LEGION screams creativity! The movie features sleek pictures, smooth editing, nice costumes, and makeup. The cast delivered their lines well and gave us the best facial expressions.
Talking about creativity, I cannot but marvel at JayMikee’s performance in the mad man/possessed man scene. It was amazing!
The makeup artist did a great job, the appearance was everything.
When it comes to beautiful lines, funny lines, sarcasm, moral lessons, spiritual edifying words, etc. Damilola Mike Bamiloye delivers! There are spiritual lessons and corrections to gain from every conversation/dialogue.
FRED: JayMikee is the number one guy who delivered a top-notch performance. He is funny, reckless, fearful, soft at heart, and loving. His demeanor, his lines, he entered is the character so well (He understood the assignment) .
If you are very familiar with Jaymikee’s characters in movies you can bet he is always a bad guy but his character in Legion was beyond the bad guy we see in other movies. Take for example “SUNSET AT MID-DAY” “ABATTOIR” etc.
The last supper he had with his dad could have been his chance of escaping the trap the enemy sets for him but just like Judas in the bible, Fred left the gathering where salvation was available, he collected the thirty pieces of silver from the enemy of his soul before he realized his mistakes.
EFE is such a sweet soul and she displayed that on screen so well. Her sweet character brought out the baby character in FRED. Her death was very painful but there was nothing we the viewers could do about it.
ZACHIE, the big boy who wanted money at all cost without minding who takes the fall/ goes for it. Like how could a brother use his little sister for ritual? Well, what more could you expect from a guy who drinks, party, womanize, and does internet fraud for a living? Who tells a Babalawo that “shey n whine mi ni”
Fred’s DAD: such a wonderful man, if you ask me! If you are very familiar with mount Zion movies, you will realize that the man who played the role of Fred’s dad is always a cool and gentle dad (everyone’s dream dad, lol) check out “Sunset at midday” to confirm and thank me later.
He could have bonded well with Fred but Fred refused his father’s advice.
TITI: fine girl, pompous, stubborn, and blinded by Fred’s love. God’s mercies brought her home and no one could have imagined she would get married to David.
- Beware of the companies your keep, bad communication corrupts good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33, 2 Corinthians 6:14.Do not love the world or the things in the world. 1 John 2:15-17 let contentment be your watchword.
- Honor your parents! Ephesians 6:2-3 Fred would have escaped from the enemy’s cage if he listened to his dad.
- Titi was unequally yoked with Fred and the bible admonishes us to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, 2 Corinthians 6:14.
All the moral and spiritual lessons in LEGION cannot be listed here, you have to watch it on YouTube and see for yourself. https://youtube.com/channel/UCGyPHwlkRV_Ai7aLRXpXJow I am sure you don’t want me to give you all gist here.
Prepare to laugh, learn, pray, and cry (if you are the emotional type)
